Sometimes it’s hard for me to be grateful for what I already have. I spend more time than I probably should looking ahead and not appreciating what’s right in front of me. I was talking talking to a friend about a minor frustration I was having and they said, ”The grass is always greener on the other side, right?” And it made me think of the phrase “The grass is always greener where you water it.”
It’s easy for me to forget that. It’s easy to idealize something I don’t have. It’s easy to say, “I’m frustrated and it’s better over there.” But if instead I spent less time looking elsewhere and put more time, energy, and effort into what’s right in front of me, I might be happier and more grateful with what’s already right here. And I can also feel good knowing that if I do the work and the grass is still definitely greener on the other side, then it’s truly time to move on.
