Here are my top books for the year. It doesn’t include my all time favorite books but favorite ones for 2025.

*The Wayfarers Series by Becky Chambers**:*** I did a little book report on this a few days ago, but be careful it’s got some spoilers in there. This book is set in space and walks through the lives of a few different groups of people out in the universe. It’s a sweet little series.

***Bringer of Dust** by J.M Miro**:*** I’ve read two of the three books in this series. The first is *Ordinary Monsters* and Bringer of Dust is the second. **The third one isn’t out yet. This is a pretty dark book, and deals with death and dark magic. The characters in it are so well written and the world building is stark but beautiful. I think for this one you have to be in a pretty good state of mind, because it’s a sad read, but a great story (so far). Miro hasn’t finished the final book yet, but it was supposed to be done later this year or early next year. We’ll see.

***Yumi and the Nightmare Painter** by Brandon Sanderson**:*** This is a stand alone book in a larger Cosmere series. You don’t need to know what the Cosmere to read this one, although it does make for some fun little revelations if you’ve got some of the history. This was just a feel good read and I thought it was very cute. This is one falls into fantasy and I thought it was very cleverly put together.

***The Tree Collectors: Tales of Arboreal Obsession** by Amy Steward**:*** This is a collection of interviews and illustrations with people around the world who’ve made it their life mission to collect trees. Sometimes it’s one type of tree, sometimes it’s conserving a piece of forest, sometimes it’s hybridizing trees. I just loved this book. I loved the people in it. And I loved reading how much these people love their trees and the way they’ve built their life around them.
